i just received a pair of side saddle panniers from the dealer, and i'm not seeing how to install them. they came with no instructions, just 2 bags and 2 small sets of screws. i see how the top hole attahces to the bike using the release lever. but where do the screws attach? it almost seems like i'm missing some hardware...i'd think there would be a substantial mounting to the luggage rack somewhere. also, when i open the bag, i can't see how to get inside.....there's just a gray cloth but no opening into the luggage....help!

You should have got a manual with them. The screws hold the block (did you get this?, plastic bit) that mounts at the bottom of the panniers that hooks into the rail. Check the bikes manual does have a bit on the panniers.

Just keep holding the opening latch up and pull the clips on the grey cloth out of their sockets. To close when the bag's fully expanded, pull the straps out of the outer case and latch them into the sockets, then push against the lid until it's as closed as you can get it.
Hope that helps!

(Ohhh, dare I say this - It's all in the handbook...)

Did you have the tail rack AND the pannier fasteners fitted as an extra when you ordered the bike, if not you are missing an important pair of mounting bolts that should be forward of the tail rack. The panniers simply fit onto the mounting bolts with a quick release system.

no i think what has happened is, he needs to attatch the lock to the back plastic, and maybe even the grey bag part to that, you would def. need a manual for this. i have taken the lock off of the back plastic piece, and the bag off, but it is no use of me explaining. i meant to take pictures when i did it, and see now is when they would have been great;if they were not in the hall of wisdom thing already.
gotta get the instructions, even though im not sure they even make them, but they must.

Whilst risking the OT brigade (er, that'll be me included then huh)... does anyone know if it is possible to get these cheaper than the ÂŁ450-odd price quoted by my dealer in Bath Road, Bristol? I've not got the rails, so that price included the whole caboodle.

Of course, I was going to ask if anyone was willing to lend me the set (I'd get the rails fitted) for my little trip to France in July, but think it's a long-shot. But hey, I live in hope. :)
