Didn't get around do doing properly on my 700 but for my F800GS I wanted to get the GPS just where I like it. When you have a standard GS not GSA or don't have an aftermarket screen with support plates/brackets getting your GPS above the cluster is a challenge.

I really like this one, mounts it very solid.

Plate attached to lower fairing mount on steel frame, very solid

Plate sits on cluster mounting platform, I added a bit of rubber and cable tie to add to solid set up

A guy called Burak in Turkey on Facebook. Search BMW F650GSTwin/F700GS/F800GS GPS Holder

There's 2 types of holders, one with side wings to mount other electronics, and one without. Different dia crossbars are available, mine is 12mm as that is what the couple of GPS adapters I already had where, and it comes with an extension hinged section for taller screens which I didn't use.

It's Touratech quality that's for sure, in fact I can't believe they haven't made it

I used to have my GPS on Ram Mounts up high and down low. Now I have on a $25 mount I found on AliExpress. It is pretty solid and rubber mounted to protect the GPS. Also hardwired the mount to the CAN-BUS. Very happy with it. You can find mounts on Ebay also. Bike store sell for about $45.

I have the same mount on my 800. I drive a lot on gravel roads and my GPS was jumping too much. So I made a support struts. It is just perfect. A small "line" in front of the speedo, but no problem. I will recomend this one. I made it of stainless steel and painted it black.
