Doh! Have a spanking new F800ST with the BMW sports panniers - was pulling out this a.m. from a parking space and managed to catch a piece of steel from a GS 1200 which punctured the outer grey part of the right pannier. Any suggestions for repairing this bit? It's only a small tear but, hey, when it comes to my bike, I'm obssessive. Any insights appreciated. Ta.

Show us the money-shot.

I have only had to replace the back plastic "wall" that faces the bike, kind of a mission, them germans know how to engineer. But id imagine its only held on there with a small number of screw.

Meant to take pictures during the repair, should have for the Hall.
Greetings,

Would love to see some before and after pictures of your repair job.
I too have a similar crack in the right sports pannier facing inward to the bike. I am guessing that BMW sells individual parts for the Sports Pannier.
Please share you mirror experience with acquiring parts, cost spent & assembly.

This is an matter with interest to me.

Cheers,
JD

When I had my K1200R I managed to catch the open lid of one on the side of my garage door, popping the rivet on the string that holds the lid up. I was surprisingly able to order just the string/snap piece from my dealer. It looked like you could get just about every seperate part of the bag. You may be able to order just the inner grey part. I don't remember exactly how it all goes together now.

Great tip, Dick! But, another reason why WHEN I get my F800ST, I'm going with aftermarket bags and SW Motech racks. BTW, when I worked in MC shop, we sold those.........they are Da' Bomb! Can so easily be removed when you don't want/need the bags. So clean and extremely solidly built.

too late we get smart, too soon we get old............
