2026 Honda WN7 electric motorcycle

Honda has finally produced and intends to market a freeway-legal electric motorcycle. Of interest to GT owners, I note that it has a belt drive. ;)

Not ready for prime time IMHO. More cost, much less power and vastly inferior range. The low power is more a function of battery capacity than motor technology - it is relatively easy to increase power without a huge amount of additional weight. Battery weight is the limitation. Unless they can greatly improve battery energy density, they will be limited in their market. Commuters, for the most part - might be just fine as a city bike. A very long way from being used as a long distance tourer or an adventure bike. Can't imagine trying to do a normal (at least for me) 800 to 1000 km touring day with more than a half-dozen half-hour stops to charge. Not to mention that it would be a slug on the highway.
