Hi all,
Do any of you fine motorcycle owners know how to remove the right side twist grip assembly on my 2017 F800r? My right heated grip has stopped working, the left one is fine, just my throttle hand gets cold. Is there a hidden screw somewhere, or is it so obvious I can’t figure it out.

I haven't had my F800 throttle apart but on all my other bikes I had to remove the bar end and disassemble the switch block assembly to get the throttle grip assembly off.

Or are you trying to just remove the rubber portion?

Yeah it’s the whole thing, I had a Honda that was just a couple of bolts to take off the twist grip, but I can’t see anything obvious on the Beemer.

Hi. According to the Haynes manual, you first remove the switch housing next to the twist grip. When this is done, you should find a screw securing the twistgrip assembly to the handlebar. The assembly can them be eased off. Rob.

The twist grip assembly on a BMW motorcycle refers to the throttle control mechanism that is located on the right-hand side of the handlebar. It consists of a grip that is twisted to open or close the throttle, and a housing that contains the cables and other components that connect the grip to the carburetor or fuel injection system.
The twist grip assembly is an important component of the motorcycle's control system, as it allows the rider to control the speed of the motorcycle. If the twist grip assembly is damaged or worn out, it can affect the performance of the motorcycle and make it difficult to control.

That great thanks, does it say how the switch housing comes off?

The CD is available from BMW dealers. I also found it for download on several sites. Search for BMW RSD 2017
Service information was discontinued from BMW in 2021. There are NO service manuals. Only pirated copies.

If anyone is a member of BMW MOA the election just getting underway gives you the opportunity to vote for Board candidates that support your Right to Repair and who will advocate for the MOA to do so.
