Is this gap normal?
The seat is well attached and since day one the seat looks like this. I've seen other ST's and I guess they don't have this.

What do you guys think?
Is there a possible way to adjust it? I mean, to reduce this gap.

Mine's had a gap like that since new and any other ST I've seen has it also. But it suits me fine as it gives enough room for the strap for the tankbag .

That gap is too big.
Something is not fitting correctly when being clamped down or something has shifted.

Here is a photo of my bike shot yesterday with my iPhone (so pardon quality).
Even with my tank bag strap in there, you can see the gap is smaller.

Those are Grip Puppies over the stock grips.... also the fluted Throttlemeister ends.

Just checked mine and it's the same large gap.
Always has been. It's securely fitted and can't see how it could fit any other way.

Sorry to veer off-topic, but here is closer view of grips shot yesterday also.

When I picked up mine last weekend there was no gap. But then I discovered that the seat was not attached at the front. I was able to just pull the front up. The worst part about this is that the more you use it like this, the plastic piece/tab that the seat is supposed to slide on to gets moved lower. This makes it even more difficult to attach the seat correctly.

I took the seat off and pulled on the plastic tab for a few seconds. I was able to then attach the seat correctly. Now if I pull on it up front, it does not come off. But there is also a gap like you have. The rubber pads on the bottom of the seat sit on the body work underneath. The way it came, they never touched the bodywork and the seat was entirely sitting on top of the tab which I assume would break eventually.

I don't have this gap problem in the front BUT there is a gap on the sides. So, when it rains or when I wash the bike water gets under the seat and finds little holes to fill up. This is where the wires to the tail light are located so I am concerned. Does anyone else have this problem?

mine has a gap too, but not nearly as big as the one shown above.
i think it has to do with manufacturing the seat, some come out a little shorter than others.
maybe they have really large manufacturing tolarances on this part. (english is a bit crappy today. can't find the right words)

I was wondering if this has anything todo with low seat models and normal seat models ...... just a thought ????

I have this large gap and I believe I have the lower seat .... not having the bike from new but Im sure the original owner said it has the lower seat

Can you not get a cream or something to sort that out?

(Your butt, not the gap in the saddle)

Gap is an intended design feature by BMW

Ever fly on Concorde?
That had/has an expansion joint in the floor that opened up once the fuselage had reached full temperature at Mach2 (ish).

On the F800 the seat gap opens up in warm climates ....maybe.
Or perhaps it's there to take attention away from the other little issues, niggles etc!

My ST originally had a low seat with a smaller gap at the front. The standard seat gives a bigger gap than before I think.

(Why does that Translator bar thing keep appearing in this pane when I type!!)

The gap in front of my seat doesn't open up at Mach2. Do I have a problem?

;)
