Hi folks, My name is John from Ayrshire and I am a 64 year old bikeaholic, my 2019 f800gt is my 63 motorbike, I have traded down from pan euros, fjr, rt's, and various mid capacity bikes, weight of bike is important to me now, I bought the gt from motorad glasgow in October 2022 complete with sat nav and panniers with 820 miles on the clock, once I received it I then started to make it right, the coolant was at the minimum mark, they hadn't serviced it or cleaned it, tyre pressures were very low and the 4 footpeg pivot pins had no retaining washers fitted, also the oil level was far to high, now I have attended to these issues the bike is a good one, my wife and I have just returned from a trip to, Holland, Belgium, France and Germany and the bike sat Lovely at 75mph on the autobahn and pulled like a train up the mountain passes, it returned an average 67mpg which is excellent considering the weight of us and luggage, this is one brilliant touring bike and copes easily in its role as a mid capacity touring bike.. JH.

Welcome,
I concur with your opinion of the F800GT.
Welcome to the forum, John. You made a good choice buying a GT. You were smart to check it over thoroughly and perform the necessary servicing before leaving on your trip.
I just discovered the GT exists and have been looking to upgrade to the newest possible from an '07 ST. They seem very hard to find in the States. Nationally, there seem to be a few of 2013's floating around and maybe a '16 on occasion.

Any hints to finding a 19 somewhere?
Welcome here

Hi John,
74 yr old bike lover here. (USA, PNW) Glad to hear folks over the 50 mark are enjoying the bikes. Your trip sounds great!
Mine is a 2007 F800 ST with the BMW luggage sides and a Givi trunk. Lowered the pegs about 2" as a nod to my older legs. Handlebar risers 2" and good to go. Love the power and agility of the bike. Just kinda think where you want to go and it's there. And it's fast enough for me now. Keep on keeping on!
Blessings, Ted
