been an expensive 2023 so far for my brother and his st. im the designated motorbike mechanic so labour is free for him, but parts costs definitely add up.
started with his belt shearing off multiple teeth leaving the bike stranded and needing to be trailered home. luckily he had aa membership.
cost was £140, and managed to fit it in the dark with a few torches.
then he faniced getting hyperpro springs, so fitted them a few days ago. no pics as it was just the same thing as changing seals with less steps.
while changing the springs, noticed his rear pads were non existant and the disc was badly scored.
with rear discs being around £100, managed to find a used genuine disc with 5mm thickness from a 2000 mile r ninet for £39. ebc fa213 pads ordered for £14, and fa244v for the front for £29 as they look like theyll need doing soon enough.
stripped the rear brake, regreased the sliders, cleaned the piston and it pushed back nicely. managed to remove 4 of the disc bolts until the last one rounded. tried a torx extractor, that didnt work, so had to go to town with the dremel. not a fun job but it came out in the end. just waiting for 5 new bolts from motorworks now.
