Lowering Kit

I'm sure this has been asked before...
Is there a lowering kit for the F800ST?
I'm challenged at 30" with boots
Is there ANY way the bike can be lowered.

BTW: the factory low F650 was too high..and not the bike I really want.

Welcome to the forum Luanne.

Lot's of posts on this if you search around.

But in brief.

BMW do a lower seat height option. Which has a narrower possibly thinner seat plus low profile rear tyre.

There is a rear sping replacement (3rd party) that drops the rear end a bit. but ideally you should lower the front end to match.
Other than that get thicker soled boots.
hi there! i've got the low seat (790mm) on my S and find it okay (i'm only 29" inside leg)
Same here. I'm 5"6" (168cm) with 29" (73mm) inside leg with runners on and low seat option (790mm) on an ST. I can go for either the balls of both feet or a flat foot. I actually find that if I sit back in the seat against the triangle wedge I can reach more easily - I think it has something to do with the angle past the foot pegs. The bike has even shrunk/settled a little in the first 1,000klm.

If I stop on a steep cambered (away from me) road I just slip to the side (off centre) only ever so slightly and it's fine.

Really, it's never been a problem.

Go for the low seat option, it's free if optioned first up and save your money for other things.

However, I must admit that pushing/reversing the bike into spaces while seated is almost impossible. But the bike is so light I just jump off and push it wherever I want it. It's become second nature and I am so quick at it, it's just as fast.

Hi pldac, glad to hear your getting on okay with the low seat option too! Also nice to hear that it's not just me who finds pushing/reversing the bike while seated impossible given my shortness!! The only time i've found it a problem or embarrassing is when attending a big bike meet when lots of bikes are queuing to reverse park and i have to get off (with pillion) to do it! But i suppose it's less embarrassing than dropping it![:I]

Too right don't feel pressured by what others do.
Stick with what you know is right.
AC Schnitzer mentions a lowering link in their suspension modification with Works Performance shock.
Luanne, don't forget that you don't need to worry about touching the ground when you are going(!) just deal with the one foot down at the lights and have fun with it. It's not itimdating and would be sad to think it may prevent you from buying a fantastic bike, and the F800s is far more managable to push around than an F650 is......:)
Wilber Shocks. Cost $545.00 u.s. and takes 30 minutes to install. You select the amount you want the bike lowered and they make the shock to fit and calulate how much you have to shorten the side stand.

Hyperpro makes progressive spring replacements for the S. I recently did both front and rear. Lowered the bike a full inch. That along with the lowered seat did the trick for me. I'm not sure if they work on the ST but I don't really see why not unless you have the stock lowered ST?

Suspension gives 30 mm (1 1/4") Seat also gives 30mm (1 1/4")
I have a modded S which was retro fitted.
Part numbers are:
rear shock 33537711482
side stand 46537711802
Hope this helps.:)[ride]
I have a 29" inseam and found the lowered F650 GS to be pretty low--I could flat foot it with my knees slightly bent. I ordered a standard bike with the low seat. I could only tiptoe the F800GS with the low seat--I couldn't touch the ground with both feet on the standard F800GS. Perhaps the dealer was mistaken about which bike you sat on.
+1 on the Hyperpro lowering kit. It's a 40mm drop. You can get 40mm more with the 770mm extra low seat - that's over a three inch drop from the stock seat height.

I run the Hyperpro 40mm kit along with the low seat. Much easier for me to reach the ground, I feel far more confident at low speed, and handling is more stable although you need to muscle the bike more to flick the bike around - but the nervous wobble in twisties disappears.

Plus, with the AC Schnitzer fairing, the bike gets pretty low to the ground. I've bottomed out riding two-up when I'd forgotten to crank up the spring and it wasn't my wife but a heavier friend, but I absolutely LOVE the low-fairing MotoGP-ish look.
Have you looked at the low frame bikes out? the F800ST is only 29.9 " is all. I can fit this bike. Look here at this site http://www.bmwmotorcycles.com/pdfs/Chart_Page2.pdf. good luck. Richard
2008 ST I have the low seat version and at 29" inseam can't quite flatfoot. BMW has the lowered suspension model. I sat on one at the dealer and could easily flatfoot.

So far I have done both (push and drop). pushing is better. 😁
I did the HyperPro progressive spring kit and lowered seat combo for my F700GS. Touratech makes one as well (made by HyperPro) but more expensive. Go with HyperPro. OP go with what you feel is right and what makes you feel confident. As a new rider at that time, that kit gave me the confident I needed. One word of advice, get a lowered side stand if you are going forth with the lowered kit option. Parking on an incline is very sketchy especially with the higher slope on your left. Sometimes you don't have a choice of where or repositioning the bike for a perfect spot.
