That quantity of oil specification is likely for forks being filled for the first time or after having been taken apart and completely cleaned of all old oil. For the rest of us doing a normal oil change, the air gap with the springs removed and the forks collapsed is what you want to use.
Fork Oil: Quantity or distance from top of tube
Hello Friends,
Can anyone tell me why BMW specify both the quantity of fork oil when refubishing the front forks, and also give a measurement from the top of the tubes to the top of the fluid? Surely if you put the specified amount of oil in, then the level should be correct? Just asking!! RobA.
