I have a 2009 F800GS that has about 12K miles on it. I have scheduled the 12K service to be performed in a couple of weeks. I recently have noticed coolant seepage from the waterpump weep hole. I've read on other posts that other people have had the same problem. Is this covered under warranty? Also, the left side of the engine seems to be getting oily; looks like it could be the valve cover gasket or cam gaskets. I think I'll let the dealer know of these before I take it in for the service in case they have to order parts.

At the 12K service they have to pull the valve cover to check the valve clearance anyway, so they should have the parts on hand. I would mention it though, just so they know that something about the "factory" job wasn't holding up well.

Water pump should be a warranty item, and that would be something they might have to order up.

Very good idea to ring them first! I had the same issue (valve cover weeping oil) on my 2010 and I also let them know before I went for my 10000km service. Issue was promptly fixed and there is no problem since.[:D]

Surely not a "Normal condition" if it keeps on leaking out of what I call the tell tale hole.
Usually it means that a seal/o-ring starts to fail.
If you can, change your dealer, or speak to his mechanic directly if the mechanic says the same, definitely change dealer.

oil leak

Thanks for everyones replys. I have my bike in for the service now at Sierra BMW in Reno. They changed the valve cover, adjusted the valves and performed some other Service Bulletin issues. The water pump seal is not leaking now, but I will keep an eye on it.[:)]
