I recently did the fork on a DL650. VEry much like my R75/6. I've got another DL650 apart for fork tube replacement. It's quite simple a lot of the time. Just have to follow instructions.
These diagrams look very much like the instructions I followed. I got the bottom retaining bolt loose using a long 5mm allen (or torx if it that now) and gave the handle a whack with a rubber hammer. The striking force will loosen the bolt fairly easily. Otherwise it may just spin.

 

Good tip about the bag for sharp edge protection...most people just use some grease but bag is probably better.
HOWEVER, you miss the biggest tip of all TAKE PVC PIPE AND CUT IT IN HALF LENGTHWISE TO DRIVE THE NEW SEALS IN.
Odd sized forks require this $3 homemade tool or spend 20 times that getting the BMW tool.
