I haven't done it in years, but way back then, when I wanted to make more noise with a stock muffler, I visited the local hardware store and bought a 1/2 inch diameter by 18" long "electricians" drill bit and just bored a hole in the muffler baffles. It would then make more noise, but not necessarily more power. Nowadays, stock mufflers are really well designed to work with the engine system and modifying them will almost always result in a drop in overall power and torque - while making more noise, of course.
