I just did a rt trip from Maryland to Colorado. I hit lots of bugs going through MO and KS. Any recommendations of a larger windscreen or attachment that would could cut down of the bugs and wind?

Lessons learned on the ride.
Check how much tire wear before the trip. I spotted metal wire half way through my rear DUNLOP Sportmax Roadsport 2 coming back through Kansas. I stopped off at a Ducati shop in KC MO and they replaced the tire with a Pirelli Angel GT.

Tires replaced at 8,613 on odometer.
Started trip with 12,926 on odometer.
Rear tire metal showing and replaced at 16,203 on odometer.
Back home with 17,273 on odometer.
I had 7,500 miles on the dunlop when I saw the metal wires.

I also burned about a half quart or oil.
You might also want to wear something over you jacket so you don't have hundreds of dead bugs on it although washing it took care of removing them.

Also, any recommendations on touring tires?

Thanks,

Pete

It'll all depend on your height as to what fits you best. I found the Givi touring screen perfect for my needs.

For tyres, i liked the Michelin Road 6. i used to get about 10k miles out of those on the rear.

Most of the recent sport-touring tyres do well, latest versions and back a few. The best will depend on your personal preference and local pricing.

Michelin Road 6 - a bit slower steering, softer carcass.
Metzeler Roadtec 02 - a bit crisper. Earlier versions won lots of shoot-outs.
Dunlop RoadSmart IV - feel a bit wooden but work well, some rate as very fast steering / unstable / expert.
Bridgestone Battlax T33 - no specific knowledge but well regarded.
Pirelli Angel GT2 - fairly sporty, tracks in grooves, NLA in NA. Earlier GT is ok.

We have the Givi screen but it doesn't work for average height people. The BMW touring screen is the best we've tried.
