Getting ready to do my first oil change by myself. One major question: Can it be done accurately with the bike on the side stand only? I have a 2007S with just the side stand, no center stand. All instructions I have read assume the bike is level on the center stand or level in some other way.

Is it common practice to put a little fresh oil on the new oil filter o-ring before installing? So far, I have been doing this and hand-tightening. I know that the toque spec is something like 14Nm. Is this spec for a dry seal? Should I avoid lubricating the o-ring in the future?
